Plasterter Art Competition
- Long ago, before the advent of the catalogs in use today, plasterers prepared numerous sample boards coated with their work and took them around in compartmentalized boxes from which customers would choose the color of their wall. Today, however, product catalogs produced by material manufacturers can faithfully display the texture of finished materials, along with a wide and diverse range of color samples. Because of this, plasterers no longer maintain their own unique samples.
- Inevitably, therefore, plasterwork finishes have become limited to the ready-made products produced by manufacturers, and people viewing these products, unfortunately, have become accustomed to such a situation as normal. However, as you shall see, there are many different types of earth and clay available for plasterwork, and a virtually unlimited number of ways of finishing these materials?far more than a catalog can do justice to.
- Plaster art frames provide a way to express the character and appeal of these finishes within a 50-cm-wide frame. Plaster art frames were chosen as the exhibition method for the plasterer competition. This is the first time such an approach has been taken, but through this, we hope that many people will be able to learn something about the depth and complexity of plastering, something that has lost over the years.
